Louis forking silage in the cattle shed for his and Frans Aberdeen Angus cows. The cows all poked their heads though the grates. I loved the light looking out from the dark cow shed into the brighter outside.
“Guinea fowl” YANA day 88 of 100
Today I visited Melinda Raker and her family at Croxton Park to draw her beautiful Guinea fowl. These two are the elders of the flock and are known as the uncles.
A difficult drawing having to leave so many white dots it would have been so much easier in paint.
So what are these drawings about? See the article in the EDP from day 1 of 100 about the project for Charity.
“The Pink footed Geese are back” YANA day 87 of 100
Driving back through Norfolk close to Potter Heigham I was so lucky to see a field packed full of Pink-footed geese intermingled with some Greylag geese. I was able to pull up into a lay-by very close by and watch them for sometime. Suddenly some geese further away were spooked and slowly the whole field erupted and over a thousand geese filled the air. It was an amazing sight but more amazing was the cacophony of both wings and calls. My drawing cannot do justice.

“On the Merlo feeding her Aberdeen Angus herd” YANA day 86 of 100 hi
More farm machinery, this time in the shape of a Merlo in very capable hands as she distributes silage to her Aberdeen Angus. Yesterday it was her bulls which were on the other side of the cattle shed which I drew. Today just behind the Merlo were the girls which were in a separate enclosure who were very happy to be fed.
“Aberdeen Angus bulls” YANA day 85 of 100
These handsome Aberdeen Angus bulls are from a farm in Neatishead. These are from a group of 6 which will be sold for breeding. Currently housed inside for the winter because of the recent rain.
