Day 229, of my 2016 sketch a day challenge

Sea Holly (Eryngium maritimum)

Yes this is related to the red berried Holly we know so well at Christmas. This wild flower grown on the beach at Kessingland in ever increasing numbers. It has beautiful green/blueish/lilac leaves and flowers. I have been watching it on the beach all spring and now into Summer waiting for it to reach its full splendour.

Blyford Chickens

At the Blyford Queens Head they keep these chickens (Sussex Chickens a breed that goes back to Roman times) for their eggs which are used in the restaurant. Along with the chickens there are Indian Runner ducks and piglets.

For today’s sketch I have drawn some of the chickens as they forage around their pen.

Spent a lovely day with my Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Roger celebration their golden wedding anniversary with my family at Framlingham college. This is a view from their lawns looking across the mere towards Framlingham Castle what a stunning view to have for the students.

Day 225, of my 2016 sketch a day challenge

Bird feathers

No problem posting to facebook, twitter etc. when not at home but found out yesterday that it is not so easy posting to my website while out on the road and as I did not get home last night until 02:20 I am a little late completing this.

A simple sketch done early yesterday morning of feathers found on Kessingland beach.
