Alder is monoecious, this means that it produces both male and female flowers on the same tree. The male flowers or catkins are a dark yellow brown colour, about 2 inches long when open while the female flowers are more cone shape, smaller and reddish in colour.
This aluminium buoy was manufactured by Phillips Trawl products who were based in Grimsby. It now sits in the Harbour Inn in Southwold.
My friends cat Barney. Barney is a beautiful Siamese and a very happy chap.
