Week 10, 2017 Colour sketch challenge

Looking towards Southwold

I have always liked this view and sketched it many times. The view is from the Blackshore looking up towards the town looking up the creek at the back of the caravan site. Despite the temperature being a little higher today (around 10C) it was still not warm sitting on the steps of Southwold Haven sluice, the colours were very muted on this grey March Saturday morning.

Week 9, 2017 Colour sketch challenge

Rainy Southwold sea

It is when you look at the forecast for the rest of the week and realise that you may be caught out in the rain. An early morning sketch down on Southwold seafront on Thursday as Fridays and Saturdays forecast were very poor. The sea is still very grey at the beginning of March. On the promenade next to Suzies cafe trying to keep out of a strong wind and the worst of the weather.

Wolsey Creek

Just off the A1095 between Blythburgh and Southwold lies Wolsey Creek. The River Wang flows into Wolsey Creek and joins the River Blyth with views towards Southwold and Walberswick. To the left of the path is Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve Hen Reedbeds.

Thursday afternoon was bright and crisp with some interesting afternoon shadows. I was fortunate to find the tide out and the muddy edges were exposed giving a far more interesting view to paint.

Yet again my website has been hacked so I am re posting.

Looking North from Dunwich
On a crisp sunny February day still quite chilly. Two modern inshore fishing boat sit tethered on the beach looking towards Southwold. It was a great day and such a change from the weeks of grey days.
