Third of my new paintings is of Curlews on the Blythburgh estuary. One of my favorite birds who’s call is so haunting.

This painting is of the Slaughden Estuary at Aldeburgh with a low tide and a boat stranded on the mud and others further out in the water. In the distance is the Martello tower in the hazy light.
A sultry evening with this sketch being finished at about 8:30 and the temperature still being 19C. An evening with a beautiful light although fading gradually. After a week and especially a day of painting for the Suffolk Show a late last minute sketch where I have to confess I needed an uncomplicated subject. Having said that the light was so special a complicated landscape was not required.
