Sketch a week exhibition

Sketch a week exhibition

I wanted to say thank you to the many people who visited the Ferini Gallery for the private view of my 2017 colour sketch a week challenge. The exhibition will run at the Ferini Gallery until the 25th of February and I hope you will be able to visit the gallery to see them. For some of my subscribers and followers I understand that this may not be possible so I have put all the sketches into a gallery page so that you can at least view them here.

A beautiful video made by Michaela and Paul to promote my forthcoming exhibition of the sketch a week challenge.

Week 52, 2017 Colour sketch challenge

Blythburgh Estuary

So this is the concluding sketch to this years challenge and as I suggested in last weeks post I was accompanied by Paul and Michaela of FeriniMedia who filmed the whole process of the last sketch. Once the film is finished I will post a link to it.

How lucky it was today that it did not rain like it did yesterday or it was not freezing cold like most of the preceding week and with the filming we were blessed with a mild day with some winter sunshine albeit ever changing.

I had this view in mind for the last sketch for a few week now looking across from Blythburgh to Bulcamp house on the Southwold side of course I had no idea then that the tide would be out but the resultant expanse of mud was perfect and full of Avocets, Dunlin, Redshanks and Shelduck.

Interestingly it was only as I thought I was finished I noticed the moon which is nearing being full which must have been behind the clouds, so I felt I had to add it.

Now I just need to frame the pictures for the exhibition at Ferini Gallery starting 19th January.

Week 51, 2017 Colour sketch challenge

Hen Reedbeds, Wolsey Creek

So this is this years penultimate sketch and this challenge is drawing to it’s conclusion. I have been meaning to post about the forthcoming exhibition which will be at the Ferini Gallery in Pakefield where all 52 sketches will be exhibited and for sale. The exhibition runs from the 19th January 2018 with a private view in the evening between 7 and 9pm, please do come it would great to see you all.

So this sketch is on the way from Blythburgh to Southwold looking down Wolsey creek on a mild but breezy winters day and I had to include the swans that flew towards me. This is quite a stark landscape the reminder that Autumn is long past and spring is yet too far in the distance.

Next week with The Ferini Gallery we are going to attempt to video the sketch.

Week 50, 2017 Colour sketch challenge

Covehithe looking south towards Southwold

Yet another cold Saturday afternoon with the sun low in the sky. This is from the end of the road as it disappears off the cliff and viewed directly into the low light which softened all the colours and detail into a soft haze.

This sketch is dedicated to my Uncle Rob who sadly passed away yesterday, he will be missed by us all.
