Cannon on top of Gun Hill southwold A sketch of one of the six cannons that sits pointing out to sea on Gun Hill in Southwold. These eighteen pound cannons were given to the town in 1746 by the Royal Amouries for protecting shipping from raids.

I have always admired this rudder outside of the sailors reading rooms in Southwold. It once belonged to the beach yawl “Bittern” one of many that used to be homed on Southwold beach.
