Horse Mushrooms Strangely growing on a roundabout in the middle of Lowestoft about 20-25 Horse Mushrooms (Agaricus arvensis). They have delicate pink gills and a white cap. These were not yellow stainers which can be easily confused with and are poisonous, care should always taken.

Lowestoft Lighthouse As viewed from Sparrows Nest near the the Maritime museum. Lowestoft’s lighthouse sits on the top of the cliff above the Denes 37M above sea level and was built by Trinity House in 1874. It has a familiar design to the lighthouse in Southwold which was built in 1887.

Rushmere Church Not to be confused with the church in the suburbs of Ipswich this is Rushmere St Michael in the country lanes between Beccles and Lowestoft. Getting this sketch finished quickly as the sky is darkening by the minute and the threat of rain is again ever increasing.

Today I revisited the Pier heads in Lowestoft. Last time I was here it was to see off the the fishing trawler Deodar Brixham as she left these shores to sail back to Sweden after her round Britain tour in the Summer. Deodar was built in Brixham in 1911 and fished out of Lowestoft between …
